In Bolivia with CECI : En Bolivie avec le CECI

In October 2012, I went on an adventure in South America and I was lucky enough to be engaged by the CECI. My mandate was to take pictures of their volunteers in action on the ground in Bolivia and Peru. So here I present you a small preview of images captured with CECI in Bolivia. The first volunteer I had the opportunity to accompany was Rodrigo , we went together to meet the weavers through small bumpy roads surrounding the city of Sucre. These women sell wall decorations, they spent hours manually weaving in large cities through the association Inca Pallay that we accompanied. Then I had the pleasure of meeting another volunteer, Patricia, who accompanied me during an event in the village of Sapahaqui where a local NGO came to present his recovery project of human waste. Our welcome in the village was the most surprising! Fanfare, flowers wreaths, buffet of potatoes, home made alcohol and so on … unforgettable. The next day it was Alexandra who hosted a meeting in La Paz about the formation of a working group working on women and the economy. My stay with CECI in Bolivia ended with a visit to the workshops in El Alto where we could find women groups creating small masterpieces in alpaca behind the walls of this very poor neighborhood. What an experience!

En octobre 2012, je suis partie à l’aventure en Amérique du Sud et j’ai eu la chance d’être engagée par le CECI. Mon mandat étant de prendre des photos de leurs volontaires en action sur le terrain en Bolivie et au Pérou. Je vous présente donc ici un petit aperçu des images capturées avec le CECI en Bolivie. Le premier volontaire que j’ai eu la chance d’accompagner est Rodrigo, nous sommes partis ensemble à la rencontre des tisserandes à travers de petites routes cahoteuses entourant la ville de Sucre. Ces femmes vendent les décorations murales, qu’elles ont mis des heures à tisser manuellement, dans les grandes villes du pays grâce à l’association Inca Pallay que nous accompagnions.  J’ai ensuite eu le plaisir de rencontrer une autre volontaire, Patricia, qui m’a accompagné lors d’une sortie dans le village de Sapahaqui où une ONG locale venait présenter son projet de récupération de déchets humains. Notre accueil dans ce village a été des plus surprenant! Fanfare, couronnes de fleurs, buffet de papates, alcool maison et j’en passe… inoubliable. Le lendemain, c’est Alexandra qui animait une réunion à La Paz sur la formation d’un groupe de travail sur les femmes et l’économie. Mon séjour avec le CECI en Bolivie s’est terminé avec la visite d’ateliers dans l’El Alto où nous pouvions découvrir des groupes de femmes créant de petit chef d’oeuvre en alpaga derrière les portes closes de ce quartier très pauvre. Toute une expérience!
